Houston, Texas Houston’s liveliest food and drink zone these days is Washington Avenue where you can find diverse cuisine and one of my favorite restaurants. Laurenzo’s Prime Rib has a variety of food choices, but I prefer their Italian dishes. Houston is also known for their Steak Houses. Taste of Texas (10505 Katy Fwy) is by far my favorite. The steaks are grilled and served sizzling with garlic butter and there is amazing salad bar with a wide assortment of hot breads baked daily. A close second is Houston’s (5888 Westheimer Rd & 4848 Kirby Dr) my favorite dish there is the Hawaiian Rib Eye. When you come to Texas, you have to try a “Pappas”, my choice is Pappas Seafood House. Pappas Seafood House prides themselves on fresh, not fresh frozen food. Saving the best for last, Tex-Mex at El Real (1201 Westheimer Rd) the refried beans are whipped and melt in your mouth.
