Daisy Inspires: China Bucket List By: Daisy Chavez As I sit here and think about the month of October & November, I’m slightly overwhelmed. I’ve been on “the go” for almost 6 weeks now. With only 12 hours in my hometown, Houston, whenever I do get a chance to stop at home that is. From Africa, Germany, China, Alaska, Japan, Australia, Guam and Hawaii. But I’m here to share my experience in China. I visited Shanghai and Beijing, I had 4 days in Shanghai and 3 days in Beijing. Getting a visa is a hassle, you have to apply and it takes 5-10 business days, or you can get it expedited and you are required to have proof of travel. Mentally Prepare for a long travel day. Before my travel to Shanghai I wanted to be prepared, so I researched where I wanted to go. It was my second time in Shanghai, I did a few things on my first visit this time around I made my stay worth while. Places to visit in Shanghai: Yu Garden Oriental Pearl Tower The Bund Jade Buddha Temple City God Temple People Square Shanghai Towers Huangpu River When in Beijing I had a tour guide which was the best way to go about exploring Beijing. My day went as follows: Forbidden City Tiananmen Square Jade Factory Sweat Shop Great Wall of China Tea House There’s so many more things to do but I had limited time in Beijing. My goal was to make it to the GREAT WALL OF CHINA, I did just that. Even though the ocean and the sun are one of my favorite things in the world, the location that had me in “aw” is Beijing, China. I got the opportunity of a lifetime, I was able to experience THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA. By far one of the most surreal memorable moments in my life. I’ve been to every continent (except Antarctica) many countries, tons of cities, but by far The Great Wall has touched my soul. I’m extremely active and in tune with my body, being able to run parts of this amazing man-made work of art has been the most amazing thing in MY world. My body definitely felt it the next day. It was absolutely worth every muscle ache. If you ever find yourself in Beijing make it to The Great Wall sit at the top and take it all in.
