Seattle is one of my favorite US destinations… Its one of those cities that it only takes a few hours to fall in love with. Seattle has become a hub for “green” industry and a model for sustainable development. Seattle also has a noteworthy musical history. The jazz scene developed the early careers of Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Ernestine Anderson and others. Seattle is also the birthplace of rock legend Jimi Hendrix and the alternative rock music style known as grunge, which was made famous by local groups Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. Seattle is also famous for its hip hop artists, such as rappers Sir Mix-a-Lot, Blue Scholars, Sadistik, Grieves and Macklemore.

But enough about the history… Here are my faves!!!

Hotel: Red Lion | on Fifth Avenue – The rooms are a little smaller than I typically like, but you just can not beat the location.

Things to do: I could spend all day at Public Market Center a.k.a. Pike Place Market! It is a beloved Seattle treasure. Encompassing a nine-acre Market Historic District overlooking Elliott Bay, the Market remains the bustling center of farm fresh, locally sourced, artisanal and specialty foods. The Market features one of the largest craft markets in the country, featuring all locally made handcrafted goods. And with more than 200 small independent businesses and a diverse array of restaurants, the Market offers endless opportunities for delight and discovery.

Ride the Ducks!!! I did this tour the last time I was in Seattle… It was so fun and crazy! You go from land to lake in a matter of minutes. Your singing, comedian Captain will surprise and entertain you with trivia tidbits you can use to impress your friends, and unless you’ve got a fancy amphi-car in your backyard, we guarantee you’ll be shocked when we turn this bus into a boat and drive straight into the lake! You’ll see all the sights of Seattle, but this isn’t your normal sightseeing tour. You’ll learn and you’ll definitely be entertained.

Places to eat:
Lowell’s: they have a great brunch overlooking Elliott’s Bay.
The Metropolitan Grill: the Prime Rib is delicious.
The Original Starbucks – just for IG purposes!
